Temptation Proofing

Would your dog be in a situation where they might encounter a snake near their favorite things? We cover that too!

This is specifically for clients with rattlesnakes on their own property or for hunting dogs.

We encourage owners to bring their dog's favorite toy or treat especially if they are 'obsessive' about it. So obsessive to the point that common sense goes out the window when that object appears. We can use this object to test your dog's training & teach them to NOT go near their favorite object if it is in close proximity to a rattlesnake.

We know of one client who found a rattlesnake curled up under the dogs frisbee in the yard! We have also used treats for food obsessed dogs and even had one client bring avocados for their ‘guac’ loving Labradors, since the family has an avocado orchard that the dogs LOVE to hang out in! Rattlesnake also LOVE hanging out in the orchard as they have a steady food and water supply there.

For Bird Dogs

Hunters, if you would like to be sure your well-loved (& valuable) hunting dog will NOT attempt to retrieve a bird or whatever you hunt if it happens to be near a rattlesnake, please let us know ahead of time. If you want to bring us a fresh sample of whatever you hunt (ie: a wing) or your dummy/bumper, we would be happy to use that. We have man made scents available (Quail, Waterfowl & Pheasant) to test your dog with and even fresh wings at times.
