The Importance of Baby rattlesnakes

We use multiple live DOUBLE-muzzled rattlesnakes in our training course, including adults and babies!  This is so that your dog can see that rattlesnakes come in smaller, ‘lizard’ sizes as well as bigger sizes.  We also want to expose your dog to the sound of a baby rattlesnake.

Baby rattlesnakes do not have as many rattles as an adult rattlesnake.  Their rattles are also smaller in size.  Because of this, when baby rattlesnakes rattle it sounds more faint like a buzzing bug, while an adult sounds louder and much more abrupt. This faint ‘buzzing’ sound that these little guys make is a warning that should be respected just as well as the adults sound as babies are just as dangerous.

Watch video below to hear the difference in sounds. Turn your volume up!
